Bootcamp Success Story: Rita attacks her Diabetes and Wins!

The following is a story shared by one of our bootcampers, Rita Moulton who joined our program via our Biggest Mooser Competition in Derby with the local radio station MOO92.  Here is her story as, her success continues despite the contest ending in April:

‘In January this year I was a Type 2 Diabetic taking 4 Insulin shots, 3 oral medications, and 3 additional medications for High Blood Pressure.  My AIC level was at a 10 and my Cholesterol level was extremely high.  Then I started the Biggest Moosers (aka Ben’s Bootcamp).

As of my last doctors appointment on July 19th, 2011, I have reduced my insulin intake to 1 shot per day if my blood sugar tests over 100.  I’m very happy to say I’ve only had to inject four times this week.  I’m currently on zero oral medications!  My blood pressure meds are down to 1 medication per day.  Also my AIC level is now down to 7.1 and my cholesterol is so great my doctor can’t believe it.  In addition, since January I have lost a total of 34 pounds and lost 3 pant sizes.

My doctor wants to make me the spokesperson for type 2 diabetics to show them it can be done. In fact she says come November, my next appointment, If I keep up at this rate she will just about guarantee I will no longer be diabetic nor will I need blood pressure medication.
