My story is close to if not exactly what everyone else struggles with. I have tried every diet known to man and either had little or no success with them. What success I had I would soon gain back.

My real journey started about two years ago, I topped the scales at 237 lbs, I was miserable and it seemed there was no easy way to take the weight off. I had started working a second job and one of the girls that worked with me invited me to join her on a weight loss challenge. I was game for anything since I had been working out and was seeing very little results. We started running everyday at lunch time. I remember the first day of running was so hard. We walked up the hill and ran back, with every step I thought I was going to die. I was so winded and my knees ached so badly. We also set our alarms on our cell phones to remind us to eat, because we both would go all day without eating a thing. The two of us got very competitive against each other to win the first place, everyday we pushed a little harder.

At the end of 10 weeks I lost 18.7 lbs and was the top loser for the challenge winning by .9 lbs. This was just the beginning of what was to come.

I was invited to go to boot camp by my sister who was told about boot camp by Laural Fortin. After a brutal work out, I was trying to walk out to my car, and I remember my arms and legs felt like Jell-O. I told my sister if Ben calls me to join I am signing up. This was July of 2009, at the end of August Ben called and asked me if I was still interested in joining, I told him to sign me up I would be there!

That September I started going faithfully every Monday and Wednesday night, and every night seemed like the first for a very long time! ;-) Well ok even now a year later it still feels like the first work out the only difference is I am stronger and I have more endurance, and I am 65 lbs lighter!

The first few months of boot camp I was working out but I was not seeing the results I was hoping for. That January Ben offered a metabolism makeover class, to teach us ways to incorporate exercise and nutrition into everyday life. I knew I needed help with my nutrition. We met once a week as a group and discussed what we had accomplished, or struggled with, as far as food and exercise and how to incorporate it with everyday life. I remember absorbing all that I could and doing exactly what he was telling me to do. I was feeling discouraged, I remembered sitting in the class and feeling so tired and just wanting this to be the moment I would have what I needed to succeed. I told Ben how I was feeling and he asked me what I was eating and how much water I was drinking and he said give it another week, and like someone flipped a switch on, I knew that the only one that could make the changes was me, Ben was giving me all the tools I needed I just had to find it in me to use them. NO MORE EXCUSES!!

I started running Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 4.3 miles in thirty four minutes and boot camp Monday and Wednesday. I was eating 6 small meals a day, and drinking half my body weight in oz of water everyday. At week six of the Metabolism makeover I made it below 200 pounds. This was a huge accomplishment, something I had dreamed about for many, many years. At the end of the 12 week class I had lost a total of 23lbs. My body was changing and I could finally see it!

November 19, 2010 a year and two months since I started boot camp and I have lost a total of 65 lbs, my BMI has gone from 34% to 28%. I have lost a total of        inches. My life as well as my family and friends that have joined me on my journey have changed in so many ways.

Congratulations! You look fantastic. I can remember seeing you in class and not recognizing you, as you were changing! You’re an inspiration and motivation for anyone around you. Keep up the great work!
