Random Thoughts…A Sequel
In June I had a blast writing a post about my random thoughts that revolved around fitness and business. I thought I’d add a sequel to that post for two reasons, one I have more random thoughts, and two its just so much fun. So here goes:
Lifting heavy weights won’t make you big and bulky unless your programming allows for that and your nutrition assists in the process.
At the end of the day, the weight doesn’t change, its your attitude and outlook that will allow you to lift that weight that you once could not
I just watched a video on a fitness chain which will remain unnamed and how they have a Judgement Free Zone. However, they judge those that are loud when they workout. Let’s just say I’m loud when I’m working hard, as are many of my clients. The last thing we are doing is judging someone. In fact the last thing we are thinking about is what everyone else is doing. We are too busy bettering ourselves.
In my opinion, the two kings of exercise are the Deadlift and the Kettlebell Snatch.
The previous two exercises are closely followed by the Pull up and Squat
Further, don’t be confused by my four exercises above, while they are the top of the top, it takes a host of exercises to make a complete workout, and sometimes a workout will include none of the above.
The best instructors I have found are the ones who have ‘been there’. They know what it takes and can relay the passion needed for our clients to be successful
Knowledge can only take you so far, it’s your heart, desire, and determination that will carry you the rest of the way
As much as I would like to teach people how to eat supportively and how to plan ahead, and prepare foods, I think I’m fighting a losing battle. People want done for you more and more and have a hard time fitting in prepping food. This is not a cop out or an excuse, it’s reality. The minority have the time to do this, so for us and our delivery of service, it’s time to switch gears.
I think there is a definite line between fitness and athletics.
Exercising hard 5 times a week to lose fat is what you are supposed to do. At the beginning it can be considered an accomplishment. After that, its what you need to do, so no need for celebration.
‘Taking things slowly’ when trying to lose fat is a bunch of crap and a cop out. You can lose fat fast and see results fast and you will keep the results you reach…provided its a proven system and you have the discipline for long lasting success.
Walking to lose fat is one of the activities that got America in the place it’s in today concerning obesity
I dont’ think I’ve ever seen a max lift with good form.
When men realize how weak they are they are humbled. When women realize how weak they are, they see it as status quo.
When men realize how strong they are, they are they become addicted. When women realize how strong they are, they become reborn.
Its been at least 3 years since I have put someone on a machine to warm up and I am proud to say I will never do that again.
It’s been longer than 3 years since I have had someone workout on a machine, and I am proud to say I will never do that again either.
At the end of the day its not if you were faster than the other person, stronger or look better, its if you performed at your personal best. You pushed beyond your own comfort zone and got a little better. If you have done that, nothing else matters and you were successful and empowered.
